Seiko Men's SGG492 Brown Leather Strap Watch

Very accurate & long battery life5

I bought a Seiko SGG492 in 6/2000 and have found it to be the most accurate watch I've owned. It rarely loses or gains more than a few seconds/month and has only just this month required a new battery after ~5.5 years of daily wear! Indeed the watch is so accurate I assume Seiko must incorporate some form of temperature compensation for the oscillator circuit -making the battery life even more impressive.

The Hardlex crystal has held up well with only one chip and even the band still looks OK though probably due for replacement soon.

My sole complaint is that setting the English/Spanish Day/Date windows is a little cumbersome and since there's no indication of AM/PM you must set to one day and date before the current then advance the hands until rollover to get the right 12hr block. Also since the watch doesn't compensate for months with less than 31 days you'll be forced to adjust the date frequently.

Still this is an attractive thin almost minimalist design that keeps terrific time for the price.More detail ...
